1. Microbiology & Stability Laboratory Technician

Position Summary:
The Microbiology & Stability Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing microbiological testing and analysis, maintaining laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and supporting laboratory efficiency. The incumbent will work in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and company quality and safety requirements.
Main Responsibilities:
Microbiological Testing & Analysis
- Perform microbiological testing and analysis of samples in accordance with established methods, protocols, and procedures.
- Prepare microbiological culture media and perform Growth Promotion Testing (GPT).
- Conduct microbial strain isolation and identification using appropriate microbiological techniques.
- Process and prepare samples for testing and ensure proper disposal of tested materials.
- Accurately document all laboratory activities, test results, and observations.
Quality & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with GMP requirements and ALCOA+ data integrity principles.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure reliability and accuracy of laboratory results.
- Support laboratory investigations and corrective actions when required.
- Adhere to all quality assurance procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
Laboratory Operations
- Maintain laboratory equipment, including routine cleaning, maintenance, and calibration activities.
- Monitor laboratory inventory and coordinate stock replenishment as required.
- Provide backup support for purchasing activities.
- Support routine laboratory operations and provide guidance to junior laboratory personnel when needed.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all laboratory safety procedures and company policies.
- Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment.
- Report any safety concerns, incidents, or non-conformances promptly.
Administrative Support
- Assist with laboratory scheduling and coordination activities as required.
- Provide backup support to the Laboratory Coordinator when necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific field.
Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory environment.
- GMP-regulated laboratory experience is preferred.
- Experience in cosmetic, pharmaceutical, or personal care product testing is considered an asset.
Knowledge and Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of microbiological testing techniques and laboratory best practices.
- Familiarity with USP <61>, USP <62>, and USP <51> methodologies is preferred.
- Understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and laboratory demands.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and laboratory data management systems.
- Fluency in English and French (spoken and written).
